those with aftermarket gauges

want to install covans dash panel wit the autometer gauges, is there anything you have to do as far as getting mileage like documented before installing or anything for inspection reasons since they always check the mileage driven?

Re: those with aftermarket gauges

the autometer speedo has to be calibrated to work right. its calibrated by driving 2 miles at a constant speed so it can determine how many ppm (pulses per mile) the vss is sending out. you can end the calibration shortly after starting it to trick the gauge into thinking youre going insanely fast (which will also make it think its goinga long way in a short time). then you can just jack up the rear end and run it in drive in the driveway until the milage on the new gauge matches the old gauge. then redo the calibration the right way, and presto, correct miles on an aftermarket gauge.
