Has any done a nice 4th gen dash Swap?
I've always been intersted in a 4th gen T/A dash swap for my 91 z28. However most swaps seem like they are half a--ed, or just never finished.
Does anyone have pictures of nice swaps. Swaps that have a completed clean interior? I've read that the 4th gen dash in our cars look good from some angles, while others would show large gaps.
This is the nicest I have seen so far, however it is in a second gen.

I don't think I would actually do this swap, just pondering the idea.

I would hardly call TPI_TERR's "half-assed" and there are others who have done it and made it look great.

Here's mine. It's an older pic though.

The only think I dont like about it is the fact that the 4th gen dash is about 2" shorter than the 3rd gen. It leaves an inch gap on either side that the a pillars dont cover up and the small gap between the console and the dash. I have seen people remake them to cover it, but I am not that good with fiberglass. I can live with the gaps though. I did make up a nice plate to eliminate the climate controls and give me a place to mount gauges and switches.

A very well done ugly dash is still ugly.

That being said, I've got a 94 Formula dash for my 86 Camaro. Using that one mainly because I've got the entire car for parts to divide up between my fleet.

Re: Has any done a nice 4th gen dash Swap?
Fixed.
The 4th gen dash looks good if you've never sat in a car built after 1998.
If you're gonna do it, do it right. Even the POS Chevy Sonic interior is worlds away from the 4th gen.

Swapping to a 4th gen dash is like going from a 2.8 v6 to an NA 3.8 v6 because you want more power. There's a lot better options if you're gonna go through that hassle.

That'd be hell trying to wire all of that digital crap, not to mention that you'd probably add 50 lbs to the front of the car. I drive newer cars all day at work and IMO newer dashes are just too noisy and I just really don't care for the style personally, too flashy. IMO the 60's and 70's cars had the classiest dashboards of all time. Especially the second gen Trans Am.
The fourth gen dashboards are nice though. Simple layout, good lines and they flow with the car pretty well and they're just something to set a car apart from a stocker. Not to mention that they look killer at night with the orange glow gauges.

Re: Has any done a nice 4th gen dash Swap?
Yeah the 4thgen dashes don't look as modern as the newest cars, however the dash in an 82 Camaro is 20 years older than the 2002 T/A dash. That's a huge difference, so I would consider the swap pretty modern.
IMO the 4th gen T/A is just a cleaner, more luxury/expensive looking than our stock dashes. Especially with leather seats. I don't think I could do the swap in my car though, the stock dash in it is near perfect.

Re: Has any done a nice 4th gen dash Swap?
I won't say it's not right for a thirdgen but dash doesn't flow with door panels or stock seats..
I just think if you did it right and did full 4th Gen interior swap doors, seat, dash, center console it looks more complete and looks good TPITERROR IIRC has done this and looks pretty good
I personally prefer the original interior besides the seats just not comfortable after long drive I've scored 4th gen seats for that factor unless I can find some ls recaro seats for cheap
I just like the thirdgen interior especially 90-92 interior
