Firebird map/cup holder reinforcements?
So I just ebayed myself a set of cup holder/map pocket door things. They were Oem off of 91 bird. Look to be in great shape which is a plus. But have questions. I know most say they break easy, but what actually breaks? Where? I ask because before I install I would like to see if I can reinforce the weak area. No idea how yet. Any input?

It's usually the mounting points that break -- the plastic around where the screws go.

Usually the middle mouning screw support behind the little cap over the screw hole is the first to go but all three mounting holes are a weak design. I have tried to reinforce them but now I just use extreme care when working around them. A poorly placed hand when getting under the dash or a wayward foot kick when exiting the vehicle are the ones that hurt.
