Yes, they got driver air bags in 90. Get rid of it if you can, but if you have to have it , all gm90-92 bags are the same, just different car names on the cover. Sensors, controllers, etc all the same.

Yes, starting with the 1990 model year, every passenger car (not truck/van) sold in the U.S. had to have either a driver's airbag, or automatic seatbelts. By 1994, every passenger car sold in the U.S. had to have dual airbags.
I removed mine and replaced it with an earlier style 3 spoke non-airbag steering wheel as mine was in poor condition, and I just prefer the look of pre-airbag steering wheels as opposed to early airbag steering wheels (where it looks like they had to design the steering wheel around the airbag).
