86 Firebird dash modification
86 Firebird dash modification
First post on the forum! Exciting!!
Alright, I bought an '86 firebird recently and was quickly disgusted by the "glove box". I have always been a fan of the way the Camaros have the emblem in the location of the glove box. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions about how I might do a similar setup on my firebird. I'm planning on removing the non-useful glove box and can figure out how to nicely plug the holes left behind. While I mostly want to keep it stock but I really hate the glove box and think it detracts from the look. Thanks!
Update:
I removed the map pocket leaving about 8 holes that need to be filled. I'm planning on taking a thin sheet of something and covering the opening and as a temporary measure stenciling on the fire bird logo and the word firebird across it. Hope it turns out well.

Re: 86 Firebird dash modification
If you have really steady hands, you could purchase an A.B.S. plate from ebay or your local car audio dealer, cut it very carefully and then attach it using epoxy. Put a 'bird emblem on it and call it done! Hardest part is getting the edges to look right.
Good luck, and congratulations on your first post!
