Too tall for the seats
Too tall for the seats
Hey,
I've got a problem, I'm a fairly tall guy and it seems that I'm too tall for the standard seats. I'm thinking about replacing the seats to something larger, but I still want comfortable seats (not racing seats) and I would really prefer something which would fit into the existing brackets, so that I don't have to do any custom work, both because I'm not very experienced with working on cars and because I would like to avoid doing any non-reversable modifications to the car.
So basically my question is; does anyone know what seats would work well for a tall guy who's looking for comfortable seats that will fit into an 88 Camaro (through adapters or just straight on)?
I've been looking a little bit at Corbeau Sport Seat: http://corbeau.com/products/reclining_seats/sportseat
Any other recommendations from other tall people?

4th Gen seats drop right in on the same mounts and set about 1 1/2" lower. Backs are the same height I think but the head rests are relocated to give some support. Gave me more room

I ran pro car seats and made own brackets. I'm 6'4 and I fit okay as long as I wasn't wearing a helmet.

Do you have a t-top model? I'm 6'7" and don't fit the greatest but I think having t-tops helps. Idk if camaro 4th gen seats are lower but my 4th gen t/a seats sit the same as my originals.

Re: Too tall for the seats
I had 4th gen seats and didn't notice the difference, even with padding that was shot. I went back to 3rd gne seats. If there was a difference, it was because the padding is worse, or the electric seat is more adjustable
I'm 6'8" and am trying two things to help. I ordered the brackets to move my seat back 4", and I also ordered a manual track with tilt control

Re: Too tall for the seats
I've sort of solved it temporarily by just buying an extra head rest pillow, which brings the head rest forward a bit. Wouldn't mind if it would go a little higher as well, but it will have to do for now.

Re: Too tall for the seats
Pretty sure 4th gen rails sit lower. When I was looking at Corbeaus once upon a time, it was suggested to use the 4th gen rails vs. the 3rd gen to get the seat lower. Mine had 4th gens in it when I first got it, and they sat way too low for my liking.
