Trunk Pull Down Motor

I just want to make sure I have this right before I start buying parts.

My trunk motor seems to work when I want to open the trunk, but does not pull it back down.

I push the level down on the reversing switch and nothing happens, but if I push the switch down so that the motor thinks that the trunk is closed the motor seems to work fine.

Does this man I need a new reversing switch?

The whole assembly looks like it was rebuilt recently as there is plenty of grease on it.

Call me and I'll give you the instructions over the phone how to test the reversing switch.

I wish you would post on here how to test the reversing switch. It must be some inner circle secret about how to figure out this whole hatch pull down thing.

No secret handshake or initiation. The test procedure is simply a drawing I crudely sketched out years ago when I had a customer call requesting how to test their reversing switch. I've stored it in my desk drawer since then and shared the info with hundreds of others from that time forward. I did scan it and save it as a PDF file and can e-mail it to you.
