Tilt Steering. Wipers. Brights. Bad Time.
So, yesterday I finished putting my whole steering column back together after tightening the tilt mechanism. And I thought I was in the clear. Until night came upon me. I realized that my blinkers are the only thing that worked on that whole lever. The brights were permanently on, and the wipers couldn't be turned on. The lever pretty much moved freely back and forth and the wiper twist thingy was moving like it wasn't hooked up.
Help.
Also, I found the the steering wheel doesn't lock when I pull the key out. Also would like a tip on that. Please and thanks!

Sounds like there's a couple things that didn't get put back together correctly. The best advise I can give you is to open that column up again and try to re-assemble it 1 more time. The steering wheel lock is spring loaded , the "mutil function" wiper lever is held in the proper position by a small piece of hardware. (the hardware 'connects' the wiper lever to the wiper cancel cam inside the column. ) The high beam is turned ON/OFF by a switch on the left side of the column,..... the mutli function switch operates the beam switch by a rod that pushes on on it.
If you find that you've lost part and need to get another column...... be sure that it is from an 82 or 83 Thirdgen. The wiper system was very different in the early F-bodies than the later years.
* I've got one from an 83.
