Rear Weatherstrip and Interior Exhaust Smell

My car runs a bit rich with the carb setup. After driving with the windows up, i'll come into the house smelling like an exhaust pipe. I believe the rear hatch weatherstrip is original to the car.

If I replace the weatherstrip, do you think that'll resolve the issue?

Just curious if anybody else had a similar experience.

you really have to do more than that ,make sure the hatch glass is aligned to the aperature.make sure the exhaust is correct.make sure the body has no holes that fumes can enter. then a new hatch seal should help.

Also IMO I would probably tune up the ignition and carburetor so she isn't running so rich. After I did that I would get that oil changed. Probably has a lot of gas in it.

is your hatch pull down working?? if its stuck in the up position, like so many are it wont let the hatch press down and seal properly.

Not unless it is damaged or compressed and lost its resilience. If you can push the hatch down or hear noise through it then it could be as mentioned above. Had it happen before, but no exhaust smell though.

If you have exhaust smell I would look for a leak, or extend the exhaust out the back farther.

IIRC, a rich carb smell can also be caused from disconnecting the charcoal canister.
