Carpet Restoration

Hi Everyone. I am restoring the carpet in my 84 Berlinetta. Please tell me what your experiences are and what you think is the best product out there.
Thanks much.

Elbow Grease !!

Pull the carpet from the car then hang it from something tall and beat the dirt/sand from it. Then, completely soak the carpet while it's hanging with a garden hose. from top to bottom with high pressure. Once your done use a wet/dry vac to remove the access water. ( can be done in the car - but takes a LONG TIME to completely dry again ! )

Now you'll have seen all the defect/stains and will know what needs more attention. Castrol Super Clean will remove almost anything - unless the is bleached or burned. Apply the cleaner to a water soaked rag and work it into any stains,... then use hose pressure to flood again and move to the next stain. Once all stains are treated, soak the whole carpet with water and then dry it again with the wet vac.

Now that it's as clean as possible...... let COMPLETELY dry and re-dye or re-install.

If it is worn, get new carpet. No way to make that look new again.

What Mantaguy said .... LOL

If your carpet was never out before, you may find a paper build sheet underneath, factory often threw on floor during builds. Yippie.

Re: Carpet Restoration

pull out your carpet, pressure wash it then steam clean it. use elbo grease and if you dont feel like doing the work just buy new stuff. Personally I would rather try my luck cleaning the carpet first.

He said there is a hole worn through it. No amount of cleaning will get that out.
