New weatherstripping, seems dry?

Got a quick question, I just had all new t-top and door weatherstripping installed while my car was at the body shop. I noticed today that it seemed awful dry, some of the corners had small cracks in them... and a powder like residue on the rubber itself. Is there a trick to getting some moisture in new weatherstripping? A dressing to apply or grease to put on it?

My OEM weatherstripping seemed to be in better shape, other than being flattened out in certain spots which caused small leaks. But I'm sure that was due to the many years of Armor All being applied.

Any tips would be appreciated!

wipe it down with silicone and let it absorb in,it keeps rubber nice and soft.

Some guys treat plastic & rubber with mink oil to keep things from getting dry.
I have not gotten any yet but I will, come spring.
I have used the dielectric (sp?) grease smeared on & rubbed in. No issues or problems.

Edit
Good one manta!!

You can also use leather conditioner. The weatherstripping loves it.

What type of silicone? Just the regular old clear household silicone?
