Ive seen some 3rd gens with no carpet on the sides of the console but 90% of the ones I do see have carpet on them. Just wondering what this signified from the factory? Was it just a cheaper base model car that the consoles came with no carpet?

 

Yes. I believe the car's without some kind of upgraded interior had that. My IROC has the base model seats, no kick panel carpeting and no carpeting on the console.\

 

Mine came with carpet on kick panels and center console. But I found some other kick panels and a nice non carpeted center console at junkyard and out it in the car to see what it looks like. Wasnt sure I liked the carpet on those things.. but I might switch it back when I get new carpet. Didnt some cars come with carpet all over the rear plastic interior panels also?
