T-top w/o lock conversion?

The T-tops on my car do not have the locks. They also need the inside plastic trim pieces replaced. I have only found the replacement trim for the tops with the keyed locks.

Is there a way to convert the tops from the non-lockable version and add the lock?

If not then does anyone know where I could find the trim for the tops that do not have the locks?

My trim pieces rattle in my ear when I'm driving, driving me crazy.

BTW, my T-tops are factory.

Re: T-top w/o lock conversion?

You should be able to upgrade to locking tops. You would need to rivet ( like the factory) or use a very small nut/bolt to hold the lock retaining plate to the T-Top,... then simply screw the plastic trim back on and your done.

The Top in the pic is a non-locking version. You can see that the braket that hold the key lock is already in place.

On the right side you can see 2 t-top locks and retainer plates..... I do NOT have a key for those 2 locks so a lock-smith would need to make 1 for them.

On the left side there a pair of T-Top locks with key. The 3 other locks match,... it's a partail set ( 2 doors and rear glove-box, no hatch storage cover lock and no hatch-back lock ) so if you just need the top locks I'd need to have a key made.

I've also got the plastic trim for locking tops too. Not broken and no cracks around the screw holes.

Send me a PM if your interested.

Could any of those locks be converted for the hatch storage lid?

Re: T-top w/o lock conversion?

I too have the non locking t tops. These were one of the first models they put on our cars. I cannot find a reproduction set either, and mine are busted up pretty bad!! We are cutting washers in halp and building the tower back up on the inside. We are using JB weld to hold the washers in place, and bondo to fill in the busted places. After we did all that, we repainted the whole molding piece, and it looks incredible!! I am VERY impressed with how it turned out!! The washers were a little bigger in diameter, which provides a more sturdy hold!! The molding pieces dont move now!! All thats left to do now is put the new weatherstripping on the sides, and one of them is done!! The other one is the more busted up one, so it will e a lot more time consuming I thing. It is a time consuming process, but I didn't see any other option since I can't find them anywhere!! Good luck to you!!

I do!! I will get them on here as soon as I get them transferred!! I think The moulding is stronger now than it was when it came out of the factory. Seems like everything I try to do with her is difficult, since it is so hard to find the certain parts that were made in those 3 years!! But it will be wortth it when I get her done!!
