aftermarket racing seats

ok third gen owners i have the 87 irocz when i bought the car the last owner said the original seats where ripped so he put in new ones only problem is they dont recline all the way back from my research it seems they are from a 1990's style corvette i found a new pair that are racing style but they will need new mounting brackets. should i buy new brackets or try and use the ones that are on the "corvette" seats?

Re: aftermarket racing seats

Try the ones on the Corvette seats first before you buy new brackets.

Re: aftermarket racing seats

First time I tried to install 4th gen seats ,somewhere between the car I removed them from and mine one of the sliders moved 1 click.

When I went to install them my first thought was "why won't they fit" ?

Maybe I was just so excited to FINALLY find decent seats it caught me off guard and after a minute or two it dawned on me that maybe each slider was independent of each other as opposed to both being connected.

Any way, I felt really dumb but learned a lesion.

Re: aftermarket racing seats

Dont get racing seats unless you have a rollbar and a harness.

Get some 4th gen seats and keep your seatbelt guides and factory safety mechanisms and call it a day.

Besides, I believe that most racing seats end up sitting a few inches higher that the stockers without some fabbed brackets. Something to consider.
