A/C Questions

Hey guys, I have some general questions about the AC in my 82' Z28.

So the AC used to blow really hard and cold up until a couple of months ago. I noticed a huge reduce in power from the AC and something else a little odd. There are some vents- 1 on either side of the center console, that always have air blowing out of them, with the addition of another oddly positioned vent at the right foot of the driver floor. Upon investigating, these vents only blow hot air when the car is moving. I have reason to belive that this air is coming from somewhere in the engine bay? So I'm a little stumped as if that is normal or what.

Like I said earlier, my air hasn't been at full power so I took out the blower motor and it seems to blow really hard but not at all speeds. The lowest fan speed doesn't work and the highest fan speed doesn't work. Only the two middle settings work. So I replaced the blower motor resistor and nothing changed... What's up with that?

Do you think any of this could be a stuck vent door inside the air ducts that is keeping the internal vents stuck? Sorry that I don't know any of the technical names for this stuff but that's my best guess at what this issue could be.

Any help would be much appreciated... Thanks

Re: A/C Questions

There are some vent doors on the inside that channel airflow through out the ducts. the blower motor resistor only work the middle setting. if you can get a wiring diagram to see what is in the circuit that is in the high and low setting only then that is what you should look for. The resistors only work the middle settings.

On those vent doors i know on mine they are vacuum assisted to either open or close them the diaphram on the inside of those may be going out or the foam the seal the vent doors maybe dry rotting away and causing a leak. the only way to find that out is to put the dash apart and look.
