Non AC controls don't really change vents correctly

This HAS to be common and something relatively simple!

83 Firebird with the basic heater controls (VENT, HEATER, WINDSHIELD)

Talking about using the heat here, all the way to hot.

Windshield works pretty well but I still feel heat on the floor.

Heater (floor) works great but I have about half the air on the windshield still.

Vent... just weakly blows cold(??) air out the vent. Nothing on the floor or windshield.

Is there a flapper door or something that needs to be lubricated?

The person before me had gutted the interior to sound deaden it so they might not have installed something correctly as well.

Ideas?

Sounds like your flappper door is messed up, or vacuum leaks behind the control panel.
Check this diagram out. Hope it helps.

I know its for a 91 IROC, but pretty much the same box/concept

Hmm, that's not like mine. The 82-84 didn't use vacuum lines for the HVAC; just cables!
