1990 IROC Steering Wheel Air Bag
1990 IROC Steering Wheel Air Bag
Hi,
I am new to the 3rd Gen. scene and have and have a question about the steering wheel air bag/cover.
Can the cover only be replaced or is the air bag and cover one piece?
Mine is starting to curl up on the edges.
Thanks,
Mike

I'm pretty sure it's not serviceable. You will need to replace the entire airbag assembly.

Re: 1990 IROC Steering Wheel Air Bag
Nobody makes them from what I found. I ended up putting a 4th gen wheel on my 91. There are tons of them in junkyards and they are usually in much better shape than the older thirdgen bag wheels. The bag connectors are slightly different though. So if you go this route you'll need to clip the connector from the column of the donor 4th gen car and solder it on your thirdgen column.
