Seat belt retractor..

OK, so the front seat belt chest straps on my car will not retract unless I jerk on them real quick and sometimes even have to jerk on them then push the strap back up till it's tight on my chest. What causes this and how is it fixed?

Thanks!

Been there. For many years. Drove me nuts. Assuming your seatbelts still 'work' (as in, they stop you from flying forward in a sudden stop) this is the fix for ya. I did this and it's still working after 1+ years.

Essentially you're dissabling the "comfort fit" feature that came in these cars. A cool thing of the 80's but prone to failure lol.

You're welcome, glad to help!

Moderators should make that link a sticky, I feel like alot of folks post about their seatbelts at one point or another.
