Today I replaced my cracked dash board with another one. Before I took the old dash apart, all gauges and lights worked just fine. Since I was taking apart the dash, I went ahead and replaced the headlight/ dimmer switch. When I got it all back together with the same cluster from before, the gauge lights do not work and the gas gauge pegs past the FULL mark. When I turn the ignition on, the dummy lights all light up like they are suposed to. The volt meter gauge works and the oil pressure gauge works as well. The new headlight switch is functioning properly and the dimmer part of the switch also works with all the other interior lights. Anyone have any thoughts before I go and rip it all apart again?

 

You could try prying your hand behind the dash and wiggle the connectors to the clusters. Might be able to find one misaligned or pushed out maybe.

 

I tried that, even pulled the cluster back out and put it back in... Same two things dont work. The gauge lights and the fuel gauge... ground wire somewhere???
