Gauge Cluster Blues

Hi,
I'm new here so I hope I'm doing this right...
So I have an '85 IROC that I just bought and I was doing some work on the cluster and I followed another thread on how to do it the right way as my Hanes manual didn't do anything for me.
As I went to put it back in, the left side(speedo) stuck out about half an inch and won't go back in....
The tach side goes in fine.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

EDIT: The steering wheel is also making clicking sounds when turned either direction, maybe a short????

Re: Gauge Cluster Blues

Regarding the speedometer; if the cable is connected properly, open the hood and find the cable as it passes through the firewall and pull it towards you a bit. This should pull the cluster back into place.

Do you hear the clicking sound with the turn signal lever in its neutral position or when the lever is up or down?

Re: Gauge Cluster Blues

@84 1LE I got the gauge cluster back in. Thanks!
@paulo57509 The steering wheel clicking was a grounded out cable for the horn. The horn is broken so it just kept clicking.

I really appreciate the help guys.
