Interior
Interior
Hi everyone,
I just bought an 83 z28 It's got new drivetrain new suspension and all the mechanical stuff already taken care of but the interior is shot. I was wondering what everyone did to their interiors. Did you go custom or just buy an interior and switch it out?
Thanks

Re: Interior
I got my carpet from Rockauto and waiting on my new upholstery from lethal interiors. Then eventually I'll get around to customizing my door panels. I'm going from a grey interior to a black w/ blue accent interior.

Re: Interior
My '87 iroc had sat in a barn for quite a while so it was really dirty and reeked of mouse urine when I brought it home. I stripped the entire interior, threw away the carpet, and washed all the parts and surfaces with an industrial urine solution.
Carpet and headliner were replaced with parts sourced from Summit Racing.
Interior plastics were cleaned, scuffed, prepped and re-dyed to the factory colors. Then having removed the carpet from the plastics before hand, I replaced the carpet with parts from Thirdgen Ranch.
The seats were cleaned using shaving cream, a soft bristled brush, and my upholstery cleaning machine. They will eventually be recovered, but it will have to wait until money permits.

I was lucky enough to source new seats from a member here on TGO, took a bit of driving, but its nice to have decent seats exactly like the originals.

Re: Interior
I too was lucky enough score a set of mint seats from a member here. I bought new door panels and will get a full carpet kit and headliner kit that comes with sun visors and the speaker covers for the back. I fiberglassed my dash and it turned out great. Going to do it all this winter now that the exterior is all but done.

Re: Interior
I am currently restoring my interior. I ordered a complete kit from Hawks. It comes with carpet, headliner, sail panels, door panels, and upholstery. It was a little price but worth it so I know everything with match.
