Tear in console lid - replace/repair?

What would you guys suggest I do to correct this tear? Pic attached. Thankfully it's not noticeable until you move the seat. I read somehow that you have to remove the entire center console to replace the lid? Vehicle is a 91 TA.

I'd try hitting it with superglue first. Might have to figure out a way to keep the split closed while the glue cures. Shouldn't need to remove the console, remove the 4 hinge screws you can see, tilt the lid from it's full open position towards the driver's seat and look around where the arm goes through the hole in the console base. You should see the end of the spring hooked in the arm. Wiggle it around until the spring can come through the hole far enough to turn the armrest and unhook the spring.

How easy would it be to hook the spring again when replacing the lid?

It's pretty easy. Once the end of the spring is through the hole in the console, there's a lot of room to wiggle it around. It's just a Z-bend on the end of the spring, and a hole in the 'arm'. Turn 90*, slide, and it's off. To go back together, slide, turn 90*, done.

If things get really hairy, I want to say you can get at the bottom end of the spring through the rear seat ashtray. Two screws and the ashtray pops out, the spring is right there. But honestly I've never needed to, and I've lost count of how many Firebird consoles I've been into.
