IROC-Z interior

I am looking to update the interior on my son’s 1990 IROC-Z convertible. Any suggestions on where I can find the original cloth for seats? Additionally will be looking to replace the convertible top in the near future.

We are traditionalists so would like to keep the car as original as possible.

Thanks,

Bear

No one offers new upholstry thats even close to the original material. You can go with classic industries replacement seat covers but they look like crap in the car and dont come close to the originals. Unless you want to move away from the factory to leather or another material you will have to settle for used seats from another car.

If you need a gray custom cloth interior, get this one.

Patience can go a long way. Look at the retarded prices Irocs are starting to bring. As the values go up, the demand for accurate reproductions go up. Eventually more accurate upholstery will probably be available. Until then, you're left with trying to find a better condition donor (if a car is being scrapped, usually the seats are trashed), or try to find New Old Stock fabric, and have an upholstery professional turn the raw cloth into accurate upholstery.

You might also go "squeeky wheel" and start a contact campaign, write, email, call all the vendors that offer Thirdgen resto parts, or high end repro parts for other GM products, and let them know there's a market, and demand. Maybe if they get enough feedback they'll work on bringing them to market.

Do what you want. As Drew mentioned, prices are somewhat crazy right now but will calm down. It sounds like your original door panels are in a poor state of existence, finding any used one is good condition at a reasonable price can be difficult. You may find it worthwhile to visit an upholstery shop and have them make something for you. I made my own set. I thought YearOne was selling reproduction door panels but it was a couple hundred.
