Anyone know if the assist spring on the underside of the passenger seat is still available anywhere? Mine broke, I found it laying on the passenger side floor mat.I'd really like to replace it wit ha new one if possible though I realize I might need to find a used one. Its the large spring that has the nylon mesh type sleeve around it. Thanks for any info

 

Can't imagine it'd be hard to find an extension spring that would work. Hardware store, Home Improvement Labyrinth, etc. Just match it up and go.

 

Well, that's a thought although I thought physical size of a spring was only one factor in the spring rate and strength i.e material, spring diameter, treatment, etc

 

Well if you get one that's too stiff, it'll just eject your passenger through the windshield when they try to adjust the seat. As long as you match the approx spring rate you'll be fine. Or just hit the junkyard and look for any GM with bucket seats of approx the same vintage plus or minus 20 years, and the spring will probably interchange. If you can't find one, I'm sure a wanted ad in the classifieds would have swift results.
