dash pad fix Kiwi Ingenuity
Just bought a 89 iroc and of coarse the dash pad is shot and for another one here in good old NZ it will cost me $1262 which is a bit more than i wanted to spend so i thought "what the hell i cant make it any worse" and decided i would give it ago and upolster it.I started by deciding which parts to keep ie the shape of the ends with the side vents and the front, cutting the plastic with a sharp knife and then picking off all the old crappy plastic and foam not easy (,a little bit of blood from the hard plastic) then any bits missing i just filled them in with cardboard and tape, then covered where i took off the plastic with 10mm foam glueing around the edges to give it uniformity ,then covered the whole thing in vinyl ,pulling it tight and glueing the ends were a bit of a mission but patience and vodka got me through, then cutting the vent holes was the next mission trying to make it look tidy(,in the end i sprayed inside the vents and made some mesh covers to go over top) then cut the speaker holes to suit the new speakers and viola all ready to put back in .....fantastic !
