Recovering of the shifter ****

The thread on recovering steering wheels got me thinking. My 88 came with a black leather covered shift ****. The leather is very thin and over the years my hand has worn a big hole in it.

Can the shift ***** be recovered with new leather?

Re: Recovering of the shifter ****

Mine is for the T5. My hand has worn through the very thin leather.

We are coming upon craft faire season here in this area, there are always a few custom tanners exhibiting. I think I'll talk to a couple of them to see if they can help me.

I saw one place online selling complete new covered T5 *****, but they wanted $80 each for them, which seems to me to be rather high. I'll keep looking to see if there is a better price. I'd like to get a little thicker leather so it won't wear out so quickly.

Thanks. I see you can get cheap generic ***** on Fleabay for about $10. That will work while the original **** is out for recovering.
