1991 Z8 Steering Wheel Swap to 87 style
Hello everyone!
I always liked the older style 3rd gen wheels and I want to swap my 91 airbag steering wheel for an 87 style wheel. Can I please have someone give me information on the things I need to know. Is it a direct swap? or do I have to customize anything? Will the horn operate correct? Hey I appreciate any help guys!
Thx Ken

The horn contacts are different. There should be two contacts on the 90-92 wheels, and just one on earlier wheels. Also keep in mind that 1990-92 horn contacts are now discontinued, and can be difficult to find in good used condition at a reasonable price. I got lucky and found some NOS ones for around $40.
Here's a used set for under $50 https://www.ebay.com/itm/90-92-Camar...kAAOSwiiBc7eFE
Take a look at the condition of the contacts on the used steering wheel that you end up buying, you might get lucky and end up with decent ones and not have to do anything. Both of mine were completely disintegrated in my old steering wheel though.

If your going from air bag to no air bag, the hornring/turn signal cancel cam should be the same. Should be a bolt on. You'll have to remove the air bag clock spring though. The switches on the air bag style wheel are double but are wired in parallel to a single connector to the cam.
Most of them have the Tang broken though. So you might need a new one if you want to keep the horn.
