Re: Dash Pad Screw size HELP

Depends on the year. Early cars used a Phillips tapered seat screw, later cars used a hex head screw with a fixed washer. The tapered screws tend to split the dashpad. All of the above are a standard SAE size sheetmetal screw, but the catalog will list them with an oddball metric measurement. If it were me, I'd find the Firebird parts and illustration catalog PDF on the history/originality subforum, and then look to see if the screws are listed. Then google the part number, or hit the Auveco online catalog and look for a part number that crosses over. Clips and Fasteners or Ebay are good places to find Auveco products, but you'll probably have to order 50 or 100 screws. Alternatively, hit the junkyard or the classifieds, or try the local hardware store. Most will have a few organizers of body/interior screws, and the ones used in thirdgens are pretty common.
