Dash Pad screws - information please

My 1984 didn't come with a dashpad. I am putting one on now and would like to use the correct screws. Can somebody tell me what is the correct size?

Thank you.

Chris

Re: Dash Pad screws - information please

Corlando52, Did you ever get a reply to your question? The dash pad in my car was just laying on top of the dash and there was no hardware. I have no idea what the size of the screws are. If you were able to find out, please pass it along.

Thanks,

Thanks,
Sorry, no, I never found out the size as someone on this board just sent me some he had lying around. I only used the ones that attached though the vent, but I believe there are others that attach the lip of the pad to the dash as well, which are a different size I believe. Post on the wanted board for them, and also check the for sale board for someone parting out his Firebird and ask if he has the screws.
Good luck!

Chris

Glad to help, James. Let me know if I can be of any more assistance. If you ever find out the correct size of the screws, please let me know. The ones I have are a bit rusty and I wouldn't mind replacing them with new ones.

Best,
Chris

Believe these are the screws for the underside of the dash pad: https://www.fastenal.com/web/products/details/0162763

The ones on the vents are like the long Philips on the kick panels/door sill, bout 2" long.
Underside screws are the same as other screws by a underside vent (pass side), also philps, maybe 3/4".

Thank you. I was looking for a thread and thickness detail, like M3 if it were metric...

Re: Dash Pad screws - information please

There screws go into the foam padding, any thread will work. They're sheetmetal type threads.

Hi! The screws that go through the vents screw into a metal piece. Some of the screws I've tried are either too thick or too thin.

Yes, on the vents they go into the metal bracket for the speaker.Should be a button head. Its easy to strip the foam by over tightening. So a thicker screw may be needed.

Re: Dash Pad screws - information please

These are the correct screws. Sorry, no size info.

Hopefully, you'll be able to view the image despite the copyright warnings.

FWIW, the vent screws are oval head (with a captive washer), not button head. This is what the factory used to install my dash pad.
