Headliner Issues

Headliner Issues
Hey everyone, so I've been in the process of replacing my headliner. It was sagging so I ripped everything out. The board itself has some puncture holes from the pins I was using to temporarily hold up the headliner. The problem I have run into is that I don't want to lay fabric over the board if all of these dents and such are going to be visible. I'm thinking if I get foam backed fabric it won't be visible, but considering the board itself isn't hard and is more foamy itself, would this turn out ok? Essentially my question is: what kind of replacement headliner have you guys used, and to what effect?

Re: Headliner Issues
Dents or just pin ******? Pin ****** definitely won't show, dents may, depending on how deep and pronounced they are.
After reading how poorly the aftermarket board fit I patched up my stock board and re-covered with with foam backed fabric. It wasn't very difficult

Re: Headliner Issues
You need the panel to be as smooth as possible. Any dents or tears in the backing board WILL show through. The headliner material is similar to vinyl in that it shows every mark under it if isn't smooth.
