my dash vibrates more than it should. looking at it makes me think that one of the main dash braces have come loose. i did a google search and searched this forum and haven't really found anything. the only dash brace that's coming up is called a dash "support' and is a long piece that from the picture of the brace by itself looks like it goes from side to side and doesn't connect the dash to the firewall. can someone educate me on what type and how many braces our dash has? seems like there should be at least two braces connecting it to the firewall but im not finding any pics.
Dash housing connects across the top edge by plastic tabs molded into the dash housing. There's probably around 4-6 of them. Firebird dash housings ( at least 82-89 style ) also have 1 bracket in the center of the firewall that screws to the dash housing that can only be seen at the top edge/center of the firewall. ( IIRC you can't see the bottom mounting point till the housing is removed . ) Along the bottom edge there are just 2 10mm screws at each far end that thread thru the body mounting brackets that are spot welded to the body.
The brace in your pic above is what the 2 10mm screws pass thru when screwed to the body brackets.
when you say dash housing are you talking about the dash pad? my dash is vibrating at the far passenger side. it bounces like whatever holds it in is backing off.
