Direct Fitment Seat Covers
I've got a 1988 RS and I'm looking for some direct fit seat covers. What have you fine folks used and how well did they look and fit?
Thanks in advance for any and all replies.

Re: Direct Fitment Seat Covers
Hey Outkast, me again! lol
....so like all things, it depends on how good you want it to look. I've used the seat covers that Hawk's Motorsports sells, I think for about $500, and I think the fit and finish was "good". It's the same kit that all the different places sell. Colors are close, but the materials are NOT the same as factory original. Fit is good, maybe just a tad loose, but they definitely look "good". I was happy with the kit for a long time. Ultimately I went with a set of covers made by Princess at Lethal Interiors. Fit and finish was perfect. It's all custom made, but many factory original materials are still available if you so choose. They're not cheap though. With matching door panels, mine were just over $2000.
If custom made is in your budget, Princess is hard to beat. ...If I was looking to spend about $500, I think I'd buy used set of factory original seats. Maybe trade some minor wear and tear for the fact that the materials are OE. Just my two cents.
...if you're not set on factory seats though.....4th gen F body seats are a direct fit and they're definitely more comfortable. They can often be found pretty cheap too.

Is there a good place to buy seat covers to slide over the original seats? My originals are in great shape and want to keep them that way. Thanks!

I responded to your original post. I don't know how you'll enjoy them with covers on 'em, but, I think any online/ebay seat cover would work. I've never seen any that look good though. Me personally, I'd just do your best to take care of what you've got. They'll last you a long time.

Have an 89 and bought standard seat covers from Classic. They look very good, but the material is not quite the same as the original. Had an upholstery shop install it and replace some of the padding. The only thing that is a little loose is the back of the fold-down back seat. Overall, am satisfied.

Re: Direct Fitment Seat Covers
Years ago I installed a vinyl set from Classic. They fit great, nice and tight, still look great today. These were the original style, and involved me removing the factory upholstery and installing the new material over foam.
For seat covers that install over the top of existing upholstery i recommend Iggee brand. I'm not sure if they make them for third gens though. I put a set on my Dodge truck and have been very happy with them. I hate most generic seat covers because the fit is terrible, but Iggee makes them custom shaped for a nearly perfect fit; almost as good as upholstery.
