Do these things serve as rollers or simply to hold the window against the track or something else I'm not thinking about? I damaged one of them while trying to take it out and now I can't find them. I'm wondering if I can use something else?

Yes, they are what hold the glass to the track/regulator. If buy the big HF rivet gun it comes with those big A rivets you need. I think you can save that plastic disc.

 

So the rollers don't actually roll, right? They just hold it to the track?

 

Those aren't the rollers. The glass goes between the two disc and rivets secure it to that guide.Rollers are smaller & run in the guide that's on the last pic. Theres two rollers per window & they do rotate.
