Hi guys, does anyone know how many 1988 Trans-Ams came with the AQ9 option? I bought the Firebird code book but it doesn't have that information. The book does say that only 611 cars came with the red PW7 wheels, so that's one rare option the car has. Thanks for any info. on this, Ron.
Hi DynoDave, I've owned the car for about 25 years. It hasn't been on the road for years. I was getting back to the car to get it back together and on the road again but medical problems threw me a curve ball over the last 4 years or so (that's another story). To answer your question the AQ9 seats were what came in the GTA's, but were also an option on the Trans-Am (it's on the RPO decal in the console). I've never learned how to post pictures yet, but the car looks just like yours. It looks like your car may have the same wheels red PW7 (also on the decal). I bought the code book, that's where I found out how rare the wheels are. But there is no mention of the AQ9 seats in the Trans-Am. Any help would be appreciated, Ron.
The seats sound great. That's something I do not have. Sounds like you have a very interesting car!
Adding pictures here on TGO is easy, because they will do the photo hosting!
When replying to a post, click on the small icon that looks like a picture, right next to the smiley icon. In this photo, you can't see my cursor, but my mouse/cursor is hovering over the image tag icon, and the word upload is appearing just below it.
You will then get a screen that looks like this. If you have the photos you want to share on your computer, click on the blue "Browse Your Device" box.
You will then get this screen, that allows you to navigate your computer to the folder where you have the photos. Select the right folder, then select the photo, and click the OPEN box at the bottom of the screen. In this case, I'm loading a screen shot photo for posting in this reply.
TGO will then grab the image and preview it, as you see below. If it's the image you want, select the blue "Upload" box in the upper right corner of the screen. The photo will then be hosted by the site, and added to your post reply. Add what ever text you want in your reply, and post your reply.
Thanks Dave for the course in photo posting, it looks easy enough. Right now the Trans-Am is on the other side of the garage packed with parts around it (this car is partially taken apart), I also have a '68 Camaro occupying the other side so that ties up my free space in the garage. I do have a couple of pictures of the Trans-Am out in the driveway from about 20 years ago but I doubt they are of any use here. I can get to the passenger side of the car, that's how I read the RPO list in the console (upside down). If there is anything you want me to look at I'd be happy to. Thanks again, Ron.
I figured there wasn't many built with the AQ9 seats. There's not many Trans-Am's around where I live, but there is one in town. If I ever see it parked I'll look inside. Ron
