I'm replacing the weatherstripping around the doors. The inner window sweep is held on by these weird little fasteners, kind of like pop rivets, but they don't poke through. A couple have broken off, and it's like they sit flush on the standoffs. What are they, and how do you replace them?
I've successfully drilled some of those out and replaced them with rivets. Watch the clearance against the window before you put everything back together.
I was thinking I maybe could pop rivet and grind down the tails. They would have to be just about flush though, because the backside rest against the door structure. Not much there to bite.

this works. just have to get rivets with barrels short enough to not protrude very far past the door side of the trim piece. on the glass side, cut the pin flush with the rivet head. use something like a dremel cut off wheel. also, go slow and take breaks when cutting the pin. if you go too fast, the heat could transfer into the barrel and melt the plastic door trim making the connection loosen up.
Here's what i ended up with. Pop rivet just long enough to bite the plastic and a washer. Drill a hole, pull the rivet through. Seems secure enough, we'll see how it holds up.
