Knee bolster clips

Does anyone have the part number or source for the two clips on the back of the knee bolster for a '91-'92 Firebird? I was putting the knee bolster back on my '91 when I realized that I was missing one of the clips. Checked my '92 and it was missing both of them. Looked in the manual, and the figure shows them in the image but does not number them or reference them in any way. Can't seem to find them in the IPB either. I see a bunch of different ones on ebay and such, but none of them are the right ones.

Re: Knee bolster clips

If they're anything like what's on a 92 Camaro, they're called 'Multipurpose Clips', by GM. There are two different lengths. I have info here:

I installed the Dorman set and they look like they'll work. Sadly, the wiring has 'settled' some, preventing me from getting that panel put into place.

Re: Knee bolster clips

Not sure if those are the ones I am looking for. Those look like the ones that attach the lower kick panel to the knee bolster. These are the ones I am looking for:

Re: Knee bolster clips

On our 92 Camaro, the panel that covered the lower steering column and fuse box, which I'm assuming you are calling 'knee bolster', was supported at the firewall by a stud that came out of the firewall just above the accelerator pedal, and had a hook-like part of it that hooked over the top of the kick panel where the hood opener handle is. The only place that panel has those clips on our Camaro are where it clips to the back of that panel, just under the instrument panel. The Dorman clips fit there. I didn't try the OEM GM multiuse fasteners, since the panel no longer fits without some significant under dash yoga.

Re: Knee bolster clips

The upper portion, that sits higher up in the footwell, right under the steering wheel column is the one I am referring to. The clips you are thinking of, are the ones that attach the lower panel to the upper one. The clips I am looking for are the ones inside that upper panel.

Interesting. Our Camaro does not have those.
