These just came out this week from Dakota Digital. They are RTX series gauges for 1982-92 Firebirds; they bolt in for all cars except digital dash cars. The RTX gauges are intended to look factory but have modern features, these are styled after the 1986 and newer gauges with the grid pattern. They have all the features of the other gauges in the Dakota Digital RTX product line including selectable illumination. You have a control box that all the wiring goes to which you can mount where it is easier to get to so you don't have to remove the gauges to make changes later on. You can add modules to the main box that can add features like electric fan control, air pressure monitors, LS or aftermarket computer integration (makes ls swaps easier), GPS speedometer and some other additions. The gauges include temp and oil pressure senders in addition to an adapter to use your existing speedometer input. They require wiring and all not plug and play. They are a huge upgrade in appearance and the information they provide - they have low fuel indicator, tells you when you leave your turn signal on, has a shift light built in, check engine light, brake light for when your e-brake in on plus they can record your top speed, 1/4 mile time, 0-60 time and lots more. Dakota Digital never mentioned they were working on these, so complete surprise this week. We already have a couple in stock and plan to maintain a good supply of them. We have used Dakota Digital gauges in several cars at our shop and can answer install and other questions. 1982-92 Firebird/Trans Am Dakota Digital RTX Gauges – Screaming Chicken

not a surprise, they were designed in here by one of the member on this forum.
look through the other posts, i know i even contacted DD over a year ago on how they were coming, got pricing and the 'special handshake' you needed to order them because they weren't officially offered then.

I've asked my rep about them several times over the last year and no release date or additional information was ever given. Just something they might do at a future date.
What's the green light above the needle in the speedometer gauge?
Will the digital speedometer continue climbing beyond 120 after the needle pegs?
The green light is the shift light; you can set it for whatever rpm you want. In the pictures it doesn't look like there is a peg at 120 if that is the case then yes it would continue to climb. They also have a digital readout between the fuel and voltmeter which is unlimited up to 3 digits.
My 1985 Trans Am currently doesn't have an engine, but when it does, I plan to install a set of these gauges. I was working on a install bracket to install Speedhut gauges, but I like these much better. I have Dakota Digital VHX gauges (the cheaper ones) in my 1991 Camaro and really like them, records top speed and a lot of other info plus they have been very reliable (stock gauges would have some problem on a regular basis). Since it records your top speed, you can pay attention to where you're going.
