Hey guys, I'm looking at an 05 Suburban for parts for my 01...Thinking about buying the whole truck, taking what I need, and selling the rest. Wondering what the motor is worth? Opinions greatly appreciated to help decide if I should buy whole truck, or just what I need off it. TIA

 

Depends on the miles but the motors aren't worth all that much. Around here you can pick up a running 5.3 with 75k-100k miles for 600-700 bucks.

 

^ Thats the appeal of 5.3s for conversions, millions of them, cheap and common. If you're buying the truck to make a profit, then it needs to be at basically scrap price

 

I'd totally be interested in the 5.3 .. but I'm in Michigan and probably doesn't make sense unless its one heck of a deal haha!

 

I'm not looking to actually profit, just trying to figure how much out of pocket it's gonna cost me. Heck, if I can get 500 for the motor and still have rest of the truck to sell I'd be a happy camper Well as long as it doesn't get sold before I come up with the money, I'm gonna grab it. You guys here will have first dibs on it.

 

well if you do end up getting it.. I'd appreciate it if you gave me first dibs on the engine.. I have been looking around locally.. and it may be worth it to me to make a small road trip. thanks!
