total swap cost for stock ls1?

i know it depends on a lot of things like getting good deals, etc

1) what car would be best to start out with? 350? 305? v6? does it matter? the latter two cost less

2) how much would everything cost all together? how much did YOUR swap cost?

i don't know anything about wiring, suspension, etc so i would have to hire some help too

possible for under 8-9k?

all the little stuff is killer, i would say to do it right and to be all said and done you should be able to do it for right around 5k(give or take 1k). A later model camaor/firebird would be the easiest, as for the engine it wont make that much of a difference.

I've seen prices typically in the $2500-$4500 range for the engine, tranny, computer, harness, and sensors.

Also note, iron blocks like xtremeirocz has are significantly cheaper. You will find guys out there wanting $3-4k just for the real LS1 engine alone.

As a matter of interest, I was just quoted $3800 shipped for a

2002 LS1 w/4L60E, 69k miles, computer, harness, all sensors, all accessories, and the gas tank.

It seems like a good deal but I'm not biting yet. Still have other things to attend to.
