The LT1 is in!

After much research and anticipation, I have finally installed my LT1 that I got a couple of weekends ago into my RS. So far I only have the actual physcal engine and transmission in. I have yet to put all of the other parts like radiator and hoses, fuel lines, power steering and stuff together. The transmission isn't connected to the rear end yet, I need to find out if I need a different driveshaft. I couldn't have done it without the posts of other people, and I thank them for that. I have yet to wire it up, but that'll be easy as I have a custom harness that makes this really easy. I just have to decide where to mount the fuse block and computer. The custom harness is long enough to where I may be able to get it in the hatch somewhere but we'll see. Thanks again guys!

sweet. I almost got my LT1 going.

any driveshaft for a 82-02 camaro/firebird should work as far as i know. An aluminum 3 inch driveshaft is recommended though.

I'm putting my computer in the center of the firewall, directly behind the LT1 intake. I have EGR removed so it makes it a little easier to put it back there. Plus i routed all the wires on the drivers side though the "extra" hole.

If you keep your same tranny, or do a similar tranny (from 700R4 to 4L60E), the driveshaft will be the same. The stock driveshaft should be strong enough, but get a driveshaft loop and good U-joints. (I use the Spicer U-Joints and a stock driveshaft on a setup with 401 flywheel horse without issue) Make sure the driveshaft is balanced.
