2 problems with my LT1

1. My coolant is boiling, but the gauge isn't in the red. Where did you guys splice your steam pipe into? I put mine into the same 3/8" line that the radiator overflow goes to the resivoir. I am using a v8 3rdgen radiator.

2. My alternator isn't charging the battery. I got a new one because my other one was broke, but it's not working. How does the connector have to be wired? Right now the brown wire has 12V when the key is in the run position, and the other two wires are going to nothing. I have 10 ga wire from the post on the alt to the battery.

Thanks in advance,
Matt

1. I used a 4th gen radiator, so I can't help you with that one.

2. On the LT1 harness, in the blue connector (may be white, can't remember) there is a red wire that is the alternator hookup, this needs to goto a 12v source with the one red wire with the plug to go into the LT1 alternator, the wire in the blue or white connector tells the alternator when to start charging.

I spliced my steam line into my heater hose coming from the water pump. I got a tee adapter from napa.

This might sound funny but I had to do it with mine and it works. Take the brown wire that plugs into the alternator, it should be the the "L" terminal I believe (right next to the red wire that is in the "P" terminal), and splice in a gauge bulb. I used one of the little pigtails that comes with autometer or whatever kind of aftermarket gauge you use. The alternator sees this resistance and excites it to start charging. Of course, keep the heavy gauge wire connected to the post on the back of the alternator.
