LT1 wiring in a 3rd gen
LT1 wiring in a 3rd gen
Got the LT1 in the car and having some issues, here is what the car is doing. Fires but only on a few cylinders, mainly #2 and #6 headers are getting really hot really fast and the rest don't seem to be making any heat. Engine sounds like it could honestly be running on 2 cylinders it runs so poorly. We have tested injectors and spark and it is present in every cylinder. Now for a few questions.
1) Is there a way to and is it neccissary to set base timing on LT1?
2) Is it possible to have the opti in 180 degrees out?
3)I am using an OBD2 opti but an OBD1 engine harness and ECU, I am told this should work, is this true?

1) There is no base timing for an LT1
2) Not sure, but its possible to put an opti in wrong, especially a 92-94.
Check fuses, check wiring, exhaust leak, vacuum leaks. Get an automovtive stethoscope and listen to each injector. I know on mine with that tool i could hear each one ticking.
Do you have data logging software, aldl cable and computer to see what else is happening?

Mine was doing this originally, and it turned out I only had one set of injector wires hooked up. 2&6 and 3&5 were firing only, after I fixed that, everything fired right up.
Nothing different on the OBDII opti from the '95 model.
As for getting it out, as long as you put the square notch on the pin, it's safe.

The late style opti can only go on one way. trying to put it in wrong will result in a broken opti, and you'll know it immediatly when you bolt it down.

My car was doing something similar. I didn't have the O2 sensors hooked up because I didn't havea Y-pipe made yet so I thought it wouldn't matter. I found out the hard way and learned from my mistakes.
