LT4 and tranny in, pump install question

Well I finally have them on their mounts! Next up will be the fuel pump install. Those of you that have put in a new fuel pump, how did you jack the car up and drop the rear end at the same time? What are the best places to put the jack/jack stands?

Here is a pic of the motor in the bay:

Car: 1981 Camaro; 1986 Z28
Engine: LT1; LT1
Transmission: 6 speed; 6 speed
Axle/Gears: 3.73; 3.42
I used the control arm mounts so the jackstand sits inside the control arm where the bushing is.

I put mine on the frame rails in the back. You do not have to pull the rear end all the way out. Unbolt the shocks, panhard rod, torque arm, brake calipers and anyhing else that I forgot. Do not unbolt the control arms. Keep the rear end held up with a jack while you unbolt everything and wants its all off but the control arms just lower it down to the ground. It will be out of the way and the only thing left will be the 2 or 3 heat shields and then dropping the tank. once your done all you have to do is jack the rear end back up and start bolting things up. This is the easiest way to do it.

Just in case you didn't know.

Thanks for the details. I like the progression there, that's the way I will do it.

Thanks again,
Jim

OK gents, its been a while and I am back to working on this. I have moved from NY to NC and started a new job, bought a house, and now want to finish this project! I'll be picking up a C4 HD brake kit from Ed Miller this morning and crawling under the car to see what I can do. Having worked all night progress may be slow...
