700R4 vs 4L60E

I am planning on dropping in my LT1 out of a 94 Vette this weekend. On my old tranny, I have a bracket on the end of the tranny that holds a stabilizer bar in a rubber boot. The end of the 4L60E does not have provisions to hold this bracket. What have you guys been doing with this bracket/bar?

I'm not sure if you can use a 4l60e from a vette, hopefully someone else can chime in that has more info on this. Anyways, i know for all other non-f-body 4l60e's you swap the rear taillhousing on the transmission with one from an f-body 4l60e. I had to do that on a cadillac 4l60e that was put into a 4th gen f-body.

oh and you may need to get the bracket thing too. Your part from the 700r4 might work???? You might be able to swap rear tailhousings off of the 700 but make sure you swap the vss sensors also.

edit: use the 4l60e vss

Thanks for the reply. I will remove the tail-housings from both and see if I can swap them. I let you all know what I come up with for future swappers. I'm hoping to get the engine in this thing this weekend, which looks to be the easy part. Then starts all the fun wiring and things. But one thing at a time.

The Corvette 4L60E is like the T56 and can't be used in the normal setup.

No, the drivetrain on the corvette is different than a normal setup. The transmission doesn't bolt up directly to the motor, but at the back of the car.

So now I'm down to getting a transmission out of a LT1 F-Body? That may be a set back. I guess I should have asked this question earlier.

Vette's didnt start using rear mount trannys till the C5 in '98. Look at the pics above, the Vette trans is a standard 4L60-E. All you should need to do is swap the tailshaft housings between the two trannys. Y, F, D, and B bodies all used the same basic trans with different tailshaft housings.

I was able to swap tail housings on the 4l60e. VSS sensor went right in my old housing and everything bolted up fine. Just need to get a new rear tranny mount. Thanks you all for the input. I'm sure I'll have more questions before this is over.
