Different idea on mounting the engine and dropping it 0,22" compared to Sphon Mounts
SubscribeDifferent idea on mounting the engine and dropping it 0,22" + C6 header clearance compared to Sphon Mounts
Hi
What do you think about this?
keeping the 3rd gen V8 mounts.
Extend them to add 3 holes on the extension. (the LS1 has 5 +1 on the LH)
Extend the top rear hole on the original mounts and drill the last one on into the base 3rd gen V8 mounts.
Cutting the middle bugle on the LS1 Oilpan (if don't mod a truckoilpan allready)
Maby it will allow using the Corvette C6 Headers and Catalysts without re-welding the Catalysts. They are cheap to have since most Corvette owners replace the whole exhaust anyway and the C6 is massproduct by now.
But how is the the groundclearance of A,B,C?
EDIT: the 0.22" is the difference from LS1 to conventional Mounts according to GM's LS1 Eingine Kit Installation Guide. Also close to the thiknes of Adaptor Plates on the Market.

If you want to have complete control where you place the engine just make your own mounts. I did it in three hours. I used the LS1 engine side with Prothane poly and bent/drilled/welded up some base plates so i could plop it right where I want it. Mounted the headers/trans/driveshaft first so everything lined up perfect and I got the engine where i wanted it.
I looked at using the stock 3rd gen mounts and adapting them to fit but found them too large and clumsy for my flavour. Best of luck

@Admins: you can kill this Thread. just started masuring and found out it will actualy place the engine more than two inches higher than the Sphon Mounts.
