ls1 swap mount damentions
i slid the ls1 into the engine bay of my 86ta and im making the mounts, not worth $100 in my opinon, but anyways for the oil pan clearance to be equal on either side the mounts needed to be different lengths the passanger was 2.75" tall on center to bolt hole and 2.5" on center on the driver side, i was just wonder people who have doen the swap how tall are your mounts and are they equal, this gave me about a 1/2" of bottom of pan to top of k-member cleanance thanks,

You can try and make mounts off dimensions from someone but do some searching. A LOT of guys trying to get their engines in using aftermarket mounts had issues with fitment of all the suporting components afterwards. Headers not fitting etc. If the engine isn't mounted in there just right it literally fugs everything else up. Take your time here and you will be rewarded with long term reliability and ease of the rest of installation.
Best way to make custom mounts that fit perfect. Make plates for the K member and bolt them in as you wish. Make the horseshoe parts for the engine side of the mounts and bolt them to the engine. You can easily guess that dimension just be eyeballing the many mount pics online I think mine were 2 3/4" high but thats a guess from memory. Then drop the engine in place and line everything up. I bolted on my headers with a few bolts and put my tranny on and mounted and aligned it along with driveshaft then lowered the horseshoes onto the plates and pushed everything around and leveled everything up and made all the clearances around my parts perfect by proper placement not bash and smash. Then tacked up the horseshoes to the plates and ubolted them. Yanked everything back out and welded them up. I have no pics yet but from above and below my engine looks better than factory fit. Everythings lined up no rubbin or clearance issues anywhere. And I'm running Eibach sportlines and longtubes. My exhaust is tucked up tighter than stock with a 2.5" Y pipe.
It may sound like a lot of work but its the only way to make everything fit perfectly. One other note of interest is the welded seam of the K member at the rear was almost touching the pan when I put mine in so make sure any grapes ( weld bead ) are ground smooth and any protrusions are hammered in before you try fitting.
If your not up for this 85 bucks for mounts is a great deal.

I would buy the hawks mount plates but I want to go with a solid mount(will be primarily a track car) Does anyone make a solid replacement for the factory sandwiches that will direct bolt to the Hawks plates?
I never thought about anything other than a solid but if the urethanes will hold I'd do that just to save some extra vibration in the car. Which poly mounts do you get, the ones for a camaro Ls1 I guess? I'm sure there are a dozen different applications for mounts if it's anything like a regular SBC. If the urethanes will hold I'll by the hawks plates and have a motor in quick!! Thanks.....

I bought mine through summit. Prothane LS1 mounts theres only one kind but I ordered black and received red carruckasfruckindangitall. Anyways you have to drill out the rivets on the stock LS1 clam shells and just replace the rubber inside with the urethane. There is supplied bolts to re assemble the mounts.
