WAS THIS A GOOD DEAL
WAS THIS A GOOD DEAL
My lt1 swap stalled for a few months, needed about $600 to finish. When I got the rest of the money( I allready had a used lt1 with a new HOT cam & 1.6 roller rockers) I saw a professionally assembled 30 over balanced lt1 short block no cam, with rebuilt heads on ebay, got it for $590. The guy said he got it from a friend that had it built for his t/a and needed money, but never installed it. When i got it home I noticed it had 383 speed pro pistons an eagle crank clearanced rods and block. The heads have double valve springs and over sized valves. What do you think, good deal or what?
I think I need a bigger cam than the hot cam.

Yea sounds like a good deal. Hope it's not a "deal to good to be true" For the cam depends if its your dd. I have seen some strokers with the cc503 for dd up to the GM847. If it was mine I would go with the cc306 and a good stall. How do you know they are 383 pistons? It might have just been boared 30 over.

The heads are not on it. I looked the numbers on the tops of the pistons up in the jegs catalog, The crank is marked 383 it also has the ballance date on it. I called eagle yesterday and they said it was one of their kits with a cast crank and SIR rods rated for 500hp. I was thinking of the cc306..

Remember start small and you can go bigger if needed with the cam. It would be easy'er to tune. I would throw the hot cam in there just to fire it up. If you have it already. It's what my friend ran as a daily driver on his 383. Sounds like a great deal i would have bought it in a heart beat. Im running the GM847 part #109841 (Grind HR-296-2S-12 IG) in my 396 dd. And im sure you'll be running those roller 1.6's.
