not sure about lt1 conversion

Ok, I've already got an lt1 t56, and i wanted my 383 stroker to be FI, and i plan on using the ignition parts from my 305, would i still be able to use my msd coil blaster, probillet distributor, and msd 6al box...also i know i need steel lines, but i want to use a external fuel pump so does anybody know where to get one and will i need steel lines running into the pump from the tank? My carb setup has a piece of rubber hose running from the sending unit to the pump will that still work? I know i can use my power forged pistons, and hedman shorty headers but i think im gone LT headers because i love the way they sound.

Is it safe to assume you are stroking an LT1 engine?

Your 305 ignition parts are eBay fodder. Don't belong on an LT1.

You don't "need" steel running from the tank to the pump. A little rubber won't hurt anything.

The stickies have some links for sources of external pumps. Also some of the Board sponsors have them available.

Re: not sure about lt1 conversion

i planned on using my own sbc gen I block with 87+ aluminum heads and the LT1 manifold and everything else...or would my best bet be to buy a complete LT1 engine and have it rebuilt with my forged pistons and crank...reason i asked about the ignition parts is because i wasn't sure if they used coil packs or have a distributor type ignition system.

Re: not sure about lt1 conversion

Best bet would get a complete LT1. It doesn't use coil packs, uses a distributor driven by the camshaft on the front of the engine. I would doublecheck on the pistons as well, something I remember hearing that the pistons are different.
