Cable to elect. speedo on a LT1 4l60e?
OKay I am almost ready to take the deal for my buddys 87 Iroc with a LT1 (not close to stock) and 4l60e.(used to be a 350 car stock)
Now he said it would need a convertor to get the speedo to work called the Cable X.
Is there a cheaper way to go about this? Could I swap the speedo from a 91' formula? Becasue after shipping and whatnot on the Cable X it would probably be around 400 or so to get to my canadian residence. And at that price i would just rather convert the entire cluster to an Autometer or similar setup for a few extra $.
Also it has the rear end from a 91 formula with 3.42 gears....so that would make the speedo out more.
thanks Jay

With it being an Iroc, you could swap the entire dash and wiring from a '90-92 Camaro/Z28 with the electric speedo if you wanted it to look right, if not the CableX box is the only way. With the LT1 and an electric speedo you can program tiresize/gear ratio into the PCM and correct the speedo. With the CableX box, I believe it has switches to do this. And by the time you converted to an Autometer setup, you would have more into it than buying a CableX box.
