finally getting started.....
finally getting started.....
I've been gathering parts for quite a while now so I can finally start showing progress. My biggest stumbling block to date was the torque arm I had picked up that didn't fit the way I wanted it too. I finally got a UMI piece with the x-member to do the th350 conversion. This is a top-notch piece and I'll be bolting it on to the 9" tomorrow evening.
To date here's what I have;
Built 98 LS1, heads, cam(598/605 comp) doing the carb route with a performer rpm(so I can't spray it too much) Full manual th350 with all TCI internals, BTE 4200 nitrous converter, cheetah shifter, moser 9" with 3.90's, billet spool, 1LE disc brake kit and a pretty well plumbed fuel system using #10 line all the way to the front.
As soon as it's back on the ground in the garage the motor and trans come out and it goes for a tubular front k-member, coil-overs and a manual rack. Then back to me for the motor and trans install..........
It's been frustrating to the point I almost sold my car but I got mad eough to finally go the distance with it. Thanks to all of you guys(especially TJ) for any advise good or bad so far!!

Always cool to see other people's projects...
I really like the color on your car, & I'm REALLY liking the color on that swaybar! Sounds like you should have a lot of fun with it once you're done.
One question though - is it going to be a track-only car??
Is that the reason for the TH350? It's just kind of ironic to me, we're doing a very similar swap, but once we're each finished, I'll have twice as many gears to play with...

Anyway, good luck with it, keep the pics coming!

it will see some limited street use but primarily will be a track car. I would have liked to use the 700r4 but the motor has already made over 400rwhp and add to that another 150 shot of spray and the 700 would probably poop itself. The 6 speed would be FUN and it may one day end up in that direction but for now I'll stay with the 350. Thanks and good luck with yours too!!

I know that "technically" this isn't LS stuff yet but it's an ongoing project. I got the new torque arm in today and managed to test fit a wheel for fit on the new disc brake setup and check caliper clearance.....for once it FIT!! Here it is with a wheel back on. The long Moroso wheel studs kinda suck but they won't break!
